What is ROAD DAWGS?
Road Dawgs is an initiative aimed at inspiring high school students across Georgia to envision the limitless possibilities for their future and consider higher education as a part of that success. Through this program, current UGA students travel to various high schools, sharing their personal college experiences, answering questions, and encouraging younger students to explore the opportunities that a college degree provides.
A key component of the program is group discussions, which foster meaningful conversations between high school students and the Road Dawgs. These discussions create a supportive environment where students can ask questions about college life, academics, and the transition from high school to higher education.
Spring Break
The traditional Road Dawgs initiative takes place during UGA’s spring break. During this time, current UGA students travel to various high schools to connect with younger students and share their personal college experiences. The program changes its route every year, and each spring break, the Road Dawgs travel to schools across the state to meet with students, to discuss topics such as academics, campus life, extracurricular opportunities, and their future career aspirations.
Home Edition
Road Dawgs Home Edition is an extension of the traditional spring break program. During winter break in December, after UGA classes conclude, select students return to their hometowns and visit their high schools, community-based organizations, or small groups of high school students from the area to talk about the benefits of higher education and sharing their UGA experience.
